Eat Fat Lose Weight
Eat fat, lose weight. If you are thinking, “ Impossible, fat is the enemy, or, “ What about cholesterol?!?” or “Not another crazy fad”… You aren't alone. But careful analysis of past research has shown, Saturated Fat, or Healthy Fat is not the cause of Heart Disease. The US Dietary Guidelines, the American Heart Association and the American Cardiology Association have softened their concerns. Animal protein has even gotten a modified OK. At last we don't have to avoid eggs and butter. Avocados, coconut oil, olives and olive oil, are great examples of Healthy Fat!
HOWEVER THERE ARE CAVEATS. First of all there are limits on how much of these Healthy Fats you should consume. No one is advocating eating a stick of butter for a snack. Secondly, it is important that the butter and the animal protein come from grass fed sources. Grain fed animals can’t produce enough Healthy Fat in stomachs designed for digesting grass.
The good news is, you can Eat Fat to Lose Weight.
Of course there is no one diet for everyone, but this approach is taking hold. A weight loss plan that includes Healthy Fat is far easier for most of us to follow. Consuming Healthy Fat can temper hunger and craving centers in the brain, and also rev up metabolism and energy production.
While allowing Healthy Fats, as well as, animal protein, most of these plans do call for limiting carbs. All, but green and dark colored vegetables are out. Fruit is ok, eaten in small quantities. Sugars and grains are pretty much off limits, as are fruit juices, soda, alcohol and the foods we consider treats.
I have tried a version of the High Fat approach and for me it worked well. I lost weight, felt great and didn't get hungry. Salads of multi-greens dressed with olive oil and balsamic vinegar topped with sliced avocado, crumbled egg, and whatever protein I wanted were great. Dishes featuring Coconut Milk and Curry spices took on an exotic appeal. Admittedly, I did miss bread. On the other hand I lost my taste for sweet treats with the exception of chocolate... I cannot tell a lie.
In the weeks to come I will be blogging about several of the latest and greatest High Fat Diets. It is true, There Is No One Diet for Everyone, but these plans definitely deserve your consideration.
That's the Good News About Food for now...
